hey there!

I’M DERRYN, THE OWNER
AND FOUNDER
BEHIND LET’S TALK

I have run my own successful photography business for over eight years and I am involved in numerous other businesses. I started Let’s Talk (formerly Hooray Workshops) in 2016 to share what I had learnt with fellow photographers and small businesses in the wedding industry, but it has evolved into much more.

  • FREE 21 DAY SHUT(TER) DOWN PHOTO CHALLENGE

Find beauty in the ordinary, light in darkness and company while alone.

A world crisis, like the Coroniavirus, is no reason to stop doing wonderful things. In fact, it is during times like these that we NEED to focus on good. If you’re self isolating or are in quarantine, cabin fever might be kicking in.
Learning to take photos, is learning to look for beauty and find wonderment in ordinary things.

Look around you right now and notice the main light source in the room. Take note of where the light lands, what colour it is, if it’s hard or soft. Can you see how light creates mood? How is YOUR mood? Perhaps you could use an activity to help boost your spirits.
Feel free to join the challenge at any time.
You will receive a daily prompt reminding you what the topic for the day is. Spend as much time as you like diving into the theme. If you have children, use it as a discussion point. “Intergalactic’ allows you to talk about planets and aliens and rocket ships. Get EVERYONE involved.
If you are in isolation, please join us in the Facebook group. Share your photos, ask questions, learn new things. ✔️ Learn about photography
✔️ Improve your creativity ✔️ Keep your mind busy
✔️ Engage with others

DM if you’d like to join us and I’ll send you the link.

  • 🎙My first podcast experience.

Go check it out and if you enjoy it, please leave a review for Jane wherever you listen to your podcasts.
  • This is my little Ellie Pop. She goes to school sometimes, but otherwise is at home (it’s my Mom’s school 45 mins away so we go when we can. Check it out if you’re in Durban @yogiesplayschool ).
-
I’ve always found it difficult to work from home when she’s around - partly because I so badly want to be with her but also because I just can’t concentrate or get stuck into any serious work when she’s making a noise. I constantly have one ear open, aware of where she is and what she’s doing (even when Anna, our amazing house keeper, is looking after her).
-
My brain is split in two - and I feel like I’m only giving half of myself to her and half of myself to work.
-
I’m curious to know how other Moms are doing it. Do you have a designated place in your house to work? Do you leave to go to an office? Does your child go to school and aftercare? Do you work on your phone while tending to your child? How efficient are you really? Are you getting all your work done??
-
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
  • We’ve decided to leave the cart open for one more day (for those last minute lasses)
.
The first live lesson is tomorrow at 10am so enroll today and begin tomorrow.
.
If you can’t join live, don’t worry - the live lessons will be recorded and added into the course so you can watch them whenever you’re ready.
.
Message if you have questions and I’ll gladly answer them for you!
